Self-Help Enterprises
The Request:
Self-Help Enterprises reached out to request our services after being featured in one of our previous projects, United Way Drought Relief. They wanted to create something that would showcase their programs and the impact they’ve had on the community. They also wanted to incorporate their original film from the ‘60s. This video project would be created to present at their end-of-the-year events celebrating their 60 years.

We agreed on the creation of eight films:
1
25-35 minute documentary film following six families utilizing the six Self-Help programs within Tulare County
1
4.5-5.5 minute re-edited documentary film
6
2-3 minute films each one about a family in one of the programs

The Approach:
The six different families were crucial to this project, so we began with figuring out our contacts and filming locations. From there we scheduled shoots with the families, working closely with our point-of-contact for Self-Help Enterprises.

Another important component for these films was the script and voice over. A script for the long and short documentary was created and six individual scripts were created for the program-specific videos. In addition to the English scripts/VO, we had the work translated and recorded in Spanish.
The Result:
We completed the initial eight planned films as well as 16 matching Spanish versions (eight with open captions and eight with separate caption files). The videos can be found on Self-Help Enterprises' website.
